Qatar Science & Technology Park, part of Qatar Foundation, announced the launch of the $30 million Tech Venture Fund. It will be aimed at supporting early-stage deep tech startups headquartered in Qatar.
The program is focused on startups developing technologies with measurable social impact or climate influence.
According to the fund's criteria, portfolio companies must have their headquarters, operational activities, and key management team in Qatar. They must also develop commercially viable technologies capable of addressing both regional and global challenges.
The fund focuses on areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, biotechnology, advanced materials, and clean energy technologies. Qatar is viewed as a base for further expansion into regional and international markets.
Additional priority areas include educational technology, health technology, clean technology, agtech, proptech, smart infrastructure, aviation technology, and mobility solutions.
The initiative aims to support deep tech companies that combine technological innovation with sustainable development goals and social impact.
The fund will operate on a co-investment model alongside regional and international venture capital funds. This is expected to help Qatari startups gain access to broader investment networks, international expertise, and global markets.
Among the first co-investment partners are Global Ventures, Golden Gate Ventures, White Star Capital, VentureSouq, and Builders VC.
These funds collectively possess experience and networks in the West Asia and North Africa region, Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, and other parts of Asia.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy linked to Qatar's Third National Development Strategy and Qatar Foundation's long-term commitment to advancing scientific research, innovation, and a technology-driven economy.
