How an IT couple from Almaty lives: remote work, AI assistants, and a smart home with Dreame

Zharkyn. I am a product designer — I turn complex architectural tasks into clear and user-friendly interfaces.

We both work remotely, so we spend most of the day at home. The morning starts consistently: dailies and scheduled meetings with the team. After that, we always have breakfast together — hearty and delicious. Then each of us goes to our own room so as not to disturb each other. If there is a meeting with a camera and microphone, we warn each other in advance. We end the workday with a walk: 10,000 steps is our baseline activity.

How Daily Life Is Organized

Aizhan. We have a partnership, so there is no strict division of responsibilities. Everything is built on desire and capabilities: if I don’t like a certain task, Zharkyn takes it on, and vice versa. I usually take on cooking, but if there is no time or desire, Zharkyn happily orders delivery.

We already have basic elements of a “smart home,” but overall, we use digital assistants more than gadgets.

For example, we actively use a smart speaker — it helps with everyday tasks: setting a timer, playing music, quickly finding something, or setting a reminder. Plus, we regularly use various AI tools in work and life — for tasks, planning, information search, and automating routine processes.

At some point, this stops being perceived as “technology for technology’s sake” — rather, it becomes familiar assistants that simply simplify life and save time.

Dreame as Part of an Autonomous Home System

Wet cleaning is definitely not my thing, so we have handed over part of the household tasks to technology. A robot vacuum became a simple and logical solution for us — it takes over the routine completely and eliminates the need to clean manually on a regular basis. This became especially noticeable after the appearance of devices that work not just on a set route, but as a full-fledged system with spatial awareness.

For example, Dreame X60 Ultra Complete is a whole different level. First of all, it is ultra-thin: only 7.95 cm high thanks to the retractable LiDAR. In open spaces, the LiDAR rises for precise scanning, and when entering under sofas, beds, or low furniture — it retracts into the body, and the robot calmly passes through hard-to-reach areas.

Navigation here is built on the AI OmniSight™ system: two wide-angle cameras with a 120° field of view and backlighting allow it to build a detailed 3D map of the apartment. It recognizes more than 280 types of objects — from wires and furniture legs to small items from 10 mm — and reacts to changes in space in literally 0.1 seconds. Therefore, it moves very confidently, rarely gets stuck, and does not require attention.

The power is particularly noticeable — up to 35,000 Pa, and this really becomes apparent in everyday life. Probably, in every home where a girl lives, there is one common moment — hair. It appears everywhere: on the floor, on the carpet, sometimes even where you don’t expect it at all.

And in this regard, it is especially important how the robot copes with this. The HyperStream™ 2.0 dual brush system helps to extract not only dust, but also hair and fur, which usually “weave” into carpets or get stuck in coatings.

The DreameGlide™ system and rotating mops create a pressure of up to 15N, which allows not just to wipe the surface, but to remove dried stains, marks, and more complex dirt, including kitchen areas and places with high load.

What I like most is that it really adapts during cleaning. X60 Ultra Complete:
— determines the type of dirt
— switches between dry and wet cleaning
— intensifies cleaning in “difficult” zones — for example, in the kitchen or hallway
— returns to missed areas.

It is also worth noting the wet cleaning system. Because in a regular apartment, this is not about the perfect floor from advertisements — it is about marks at the entrance, accidentally spilled tea, stains in the kitchen that you notice only in the evening when you simply don’t have the strength to scrub anything.

And here X60 Ultra Complete works not as “wipe for the sake of it,” but really washes the surface. The DreameGlide™ system with rotating mops with pressure up to 15N and speed up to 230 revolutions per minute helps cope with dried stains, shoe marks, and more complex dirt. At the same time, it does not act the same everywhere — it understands itself where it is dirtier and can intensify cleaning exactly in these zones, and where it is clean — not waste extra effort.

There are moments when you realize that you simply cannot reach there by hand — neither under furniture, nor in narrow corners, nor along the baseboards. And most often, it is exactly there that dust remains, even if it seems that the house is generally clean.

Then the thoughtful design of the robot vacuum comes to the rescue. It calmly reaches such zones: retractable mops go deeper, up to 40 mm, and the side brush reaches where everything usually “gets stuck” for regular cleaning. As a result, even complex areas and corners do not remain unnoticed, and cleaning is even throughout the apartment.

X60 Ultra Complete works not only as a navigation and cleaning system, but also as a device for deep hygienic cleaning. Wet cleaning here can be intensified by high-temperature treatment up to 200°C, which provides deeper sterilization of surfaces and helps remove complex dirt and bacteria at a level inaccessible for regular household cleaning.

A separate story for me is hygiene and cleanliness in the house. I am very careful about this, so one of the reasons why we chose X60 Ultra Complete in the first place is exactly this.

It not only cleans, but completely maintains itself. The robot returns to the PowerDock™ station, where the container is automatically cleaned, the mops are washed with hot water, then dried with hot air, water is refilled, and cleaning solution is added. There is a separate compartment for the odor neutralizer. Plus, ThermoHub™ technology is used, where the tray heats up to 100 °C.

Nothing needs to be done manually.

And one more thing that greatly simplifies life — all control through the app. There is no need to manually configure anything on the device itself or figure it out again every time. Through the app, you can set cleaning scenarios according to your lifestyle: choose when and where to clean, intensify cleaning in certain zones, for example, in the kitchen or hallway, or vice versa, exclude certain rooms. There you can also see the apartment map and literally direct the vacuum cleaner to where more attention is needed.

Overall, we noticed that after the appearance of X60 Ultra Complete, cleaning has completely disappeared from our list of daily tasks. The house simply stays clean, and we have more time for work, walks, and rest.
