Google has acquired a stake in the independent film studio A24 for the first time. The investment amounts to $75 million and is part of a partnership focused on developing artificial intelligence technologies.
Google DeepMind and A24 will jointly develop AI-based tools for creating and distributing films, which will help accelerate certain production processes and improve the studio's operational efficiency.
A24 emphasizes that artificial intelligence will not be used to replace creative professionals. Instead, it is intended to assist directors and producers while preserving their control over the creative process.
The new solutions will not be standard generative services that create content on demand. Additionally, Google will not gain access to A24's archive of films and series.
A24 is an independent film studio known for its auteur-driven and festival-oriented cinema. Among its most notable works is the film "Everything Everywhere All at Once," which won seven Academy Awards.
