Google unveiled a new personal AI agent, Gemini Spark, at the I/O 2026 developer conference. Built on the Gemini 3.5 model, it is capable of performing user tasks around the clock. The company emphasizes that this is not merely a chatbot, but a full-fledged digital assistant and partner.
The agent is integrated with the Google Workspace ecosystem, including Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Slides. Users can configure Gemini Spark to handle both one-time and recurring tasks. For example, the system can automatically detect hidden fees in monthly bank statements, generate to-do lists based on emails, or prepare comprehensive reports in Google Docs using notes from work correspondence.
The tool operates only with user consent, allowing users to choose which apps to connect. In addition to Google services, Gemini Spark initially supports integrations with external platforms such as Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart. Developers plan to expand functionality in the near future by adding the ability to send messages and control the browser.
System security is ensured by mandatory user confirmation before executing critical actions, including money transfers and sending emails. According to Engadget, Gemini Spark will first be available to a limited number of testers, and then to participants in the Google AI Ultra beta program in the US as early as next week. This summer, the company also plans to release a desktop version of Gemini with access to files on personal computers.
