Google has officially launched the voice features for Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live. These tools allow users to search for information in email, create document drafts, and organize notes without typing, using the Gemini assistant. The features are being rolled out this week: Gmail Live and Keep Live are available to subscribers of the AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans, while Docs Live is available to Pro and Ultra users. Support for Google Workspace enterprise customers will be available later.
Google has added conversational AI to Gmail, Docs, and Keep. Google has begun rolling out AI-based conversational features in Gmail, Docs, and Keep — users will be able to search for information in emails and documents by voice, as well as perform tasks without typing. The features are named Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live.
The company first showcased these capabilities in May at the Google I/O 2026 conference, and is now officially launching them for users.
In Gmail, instead of typing a query into the search bar, you can ask a question by voice — the Gemini-based assistant will find the necessary information in your inbox, for example, telling you your boarding gate number or what's happening this week at your child's school. During the conversation with the assistant, a text transcript is displayed on the screen. In Docs, users can dictate an idea, and the assistant will help create the first draft of a document — structuring thoughts and, with the user's permission, pulling data from Gmail, Google Drive, Chat, and the web.
Keep Live turns voice notes into structured lists and notes without typing — for example, it can compile a list of ingredients for shakshuka if you dictate the recipe.
The features begin rolling out this week. Gmail Live and Keep Live are available to subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans; Docs Live is available to Pro and Ultra subscribers. For Google Workspace enterprise customers, the features will become available later.
