Freedom Bank expands its correspondent network in Pakistan

Kazakhstan's Freedom Bank and Pakistan's Meezan Bank Pakistan signed an agreement to open a PKR Vostro correspondent account.

The document was signed on February 4, 2026, in Islamabad during an official ceremony attended by the management of both banks.

The opening of the PKR Vostro account elevates banking cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan to a new level and meets the needs of Kazakh companies for settlements in Pakistani rupees.

Previously, Kazakh legal entities did not have direct access to such operations, which limited trade opportunities with Pakistani counterparties.

The PKR Vostro account will significantly simplify settlements for cross-border operations for our clients, and, of course, payments will become much faster. We identified this need primarily for Kazakh business. Now we expect that trade between Kazakh and Pakistani companies will grow actively with the availability of convenient settlement infrastructure, which will undoubtedly lead to increased turnover and strengthened economic ties.
