Ekibastuz will become the center of the "Data Center Valley" with a capacity of up to 1 GW
On February 25, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting on the implementation of the President's directives within the framework of the "Data Center Valley" project.
The meeting discussed the progress of the project since its launch in January 2026 in the city of Ekibastuz, Pavlodar Region. Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiev and Chairman of the Board of JSC "Kazakhtelecom" Bagdat Musin reported on the work completed and the current status of the project.
The "Data Center Valley" project involves the creation of the largest campus in Central Asia with an energy capacity of up to 1 GW. The government is providing the necessary infrastructure and legal conditions for the implementation of the project, including the allocation of land plots with a total area of 1400 hectares and the acquisition of a substation to ensure power supply.
Special attention is being paid to the creation of a Greenfield zone to attract international partners. Capacities of up to 100 MW have already been prepared, with the possibility of further scaling. The infrastructure will comply with the international Tier III standard with a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25. For the largest hyperscale and BigTech companies, network latency will be reduced from 80 to 57 milliseconds, which is comparable to leading European data centers.
Plans include the construction of four stages of AI data centers, each with a capacity of 50 MW. The launch of the "Data Center Valley" will help establish a regional digital infrastructure hub in Kazakhstan, attract investments, and create new high-skilled jobs. As a result of the meeting, the Prime Minister instructed the relevant ministries and responsible organizations to ensure the timely execution of all project stages and to accelerate the adoption of necessary regulatory decisions.
