Cisco has announced the completion of its acquisition of Israeli startup Astrix Security. The deal was valued at approximately $400 million. Astrix's technologies will be integrated into Cisco's security ecosystem, including Identity Intelligence, Duo, and Secure Access solutions.
Astrix Security, founded in 2021 by alumni of Unit 8200, specializes in protecting so-called "non-human identities": API keys, service accounts, and AI agents. The company's platform helps monitor the behavior of such entities, detect excessive access, and prevent data breaches or attacks.
As the use of artificial intelligence grows within companies, security challenges become more acute: autonomous agents gain broad access to systems, creating new vulnerabilities. Astrix's solutions allow for controlling this access, monitoring activity, and responding to threats in real time, integrating with monitoring systems such as Splunk. In 2024, the startup raised $45 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its total investment to $85 million. Investors include Menlo Ventures, Anthropic, Workday Ventures, and Bessemer Venture Partners. The deal with Cisco strengthens the company's position amid growing demand for AI infrastructure security.
