What is Floor796: an online universe and an infinite GIF animation
If the internet is a huge metropolis, then Floor796 is its noisiest floor. Here, on a single screen, cyborgs, memes, game characters, office workers, and cats in spacesuits coexist. Everything moves, blinks, and communicates. And the strangest thing is that it was all created by one person.

About the Project
The project was created by Pavel Sannikov, known as 0x00 on pibaku.ru. A few years ago, he simply wanted to make a "small animation" about life on a space station. But the idea unexpectedly grew beyond its initial scope and turned into something much larger.
The project's name is also not accidental: the numbers 7-9-6 correspond to the letters G-I-F. In other words, the entire project is a giant animated GIF that constantly grows, updates, and never ends.
Anyone can become part of this universe by creating their own scene using the built-in editor: floor796.com/editor/l0.
How It Works
When you open floor796.com, your browser loads one large animation map — the "796th Floor" of a fictional space station. The entire scene is assembled manually: hundreds of mini-blocks are connected into a single panorama. Each block is a small episode with its own characters, objects, and movement.
The site offers:
— Move the screen with the mouse or swipe to explore different areas of the floor
— Click on characters — many of them are interactive, revealing captions, links, or references to sources
— Search for references using the built-in search, for example, enter "Star Wars" to find where these scenes are hidden
— Listen to sounds and melodies — some fragments have built-in audio, while others are created by users.
Technically, everything works without 3D engines or heavy libraries: the author wrote everything manually in pure JavaScript and HTML canvas. Therefore, the site loads quickly and stably, even with tens of thousands of moving objects.
Each scene lives its own life — nothing repeats, and everything moves. This is not a game, but an observation of a living organism, where every detail is a joke, reference, or metaphor.
Features
— Detail — the scene consists of thousands of small elements, each of which can be examined individually
— Interactivity — users can click, search, and uncover hidden Easter eggs
— Cultural references — the project combines characters from games, movies, anime, the internet, and art
— Constant updates — the author regularly adds new blocks and expands the "floor"
— Technical simplicity — everything works directly in the browser, without downloads or ads.
Floor796 is not just a website, but a digital museum of memes and pop culture, uniting fans from around the world. The project is perfect for short breaks, relaxation, and inspiration, and can also be useful for bloggers, designers, and developers studying interactive visual solutions.
