iPhone Duo — Apple's first foldable smartphone
The main announcement of the evening was Apple's first foldable iPhone — the iPhone Duo.
In its unfolded state, the smartphone features a 7.6-inch Retina display, while the outer screen has a diagonal of 5.4 inches. The internal camera is located under the display, allowing the screen to occupy almost the entire front panel.
Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback when using the internal screen and up to 44 hours with the external screen.
The main camera features a 48-megapixel sensor, and the ultra-wide camera also has 48 MP with a 2x optical zoom. As with other foldable smartphones, users will be able to take selfies using the main camera and view the shot preview on the external display.
Apple paid special attention to the hinge. It is made of Grade 5 aluminum and consists of more than 100 specially designed parts. According to the company, the design ensures smooth opening and closing of the device.
The iPhone Duo with 256 GB of storage will cost from $1999. The smartphone will be available in two colors. Pre-orders will begin on October 16, and the device will go on sale on October 23.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max get a new camera
The new iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max retain the familiar design of the previous generation but feature a significant camera upgrade.
The main camera now includes a 48-megapixel sensor and a variable aperture with a six-blade iris system. Apple expects this to improve low-light photography and enable faster photo capture.
For professional shooting, additional settings are available: white balance, shutter speed, aperture, and histogram. Updated Photographic Styles also allow for more precise control over image texture and grain. The camera supports 4K video recording with Dolby Vision HDR. Additionally, cinematic effects can now be applied after shooting.
The iPhone 18 Pro will start at $1199, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1299. This is $100 more than the starting price of last year's models.
Pre-orders open on September 12, and sales begin on September 18.

Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 learn to "listen" to conversations
Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. There are no major design changes to the watches, but the company has added several new AI-powered features.
One of them is Audio Intelligence. It allows the watches to analyze what is happening around the user and help recall details from everyday conversations.
The Live Rewind feature displays the last 15 seconds of a conversation as a text transcript. Another feature, Siri Recap, is designed to help remember key moments from conversations — such as the outcomes of a work meeting.
Apple Watches also now include a Sound Recognition feature. The watches can recognize sirens, alarms, doorbells, and baby cries, sending corresponding notifications. This feature is primarily useful for people with hearing impairments.
Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399, and Apple Watch Ultra 4 at $499. Pre-orders are already open, and sales will begin on September 18.

AirPods 5 get more powerful noise cancellation
Apple also updated its wireless earbuds. AirPods 5 feature improved sound quality, more effective active noise cancellation, and new Siri and Apple Intelligence features. According to Apple, the new earbuds suppress background noise 50% more effectively than the previous generation.
For the first time, standard AirPods offer volume control via touch on the stem — a feature previously available only in the more expensive AirPods Pro.
The transparency mode has also been updated: the earbuds should now transmit the voices of people nearby and ambient sounds more naturally.
A single charge of AirPods 5 lasts up to five hours of listening with noise cancellation enabled. The charging case extends total battery life to 22 hours.
The price of AirPods 5 starts at $129. The version with a wireless charging case costs $149. Pre-orders started on September 9, and the earbuds will be available on sale on September 18.
Apple updates the Health app
Apple has completely redesigned the Health app and added Apple Intelligence-powered features.
A new Insights tab will appear in the app, providing a brief summary of the most relevant health information about the user. Apple has also added personalized recommendations, body condition assessments, and a new Readiness metric — indicating the body's readiness.
Another new feature is the calculation of Health Age, which estimates the user's "health age" based on collected data.
A separate Longevity tab will analyze data from the iPhone and Apple Watch to assess overall health across several parameters, including sleep, physical activity, and heart health.
The updated version of the Health app will be released later this year. Initially, it will be available in English in the United States.
