Boston Dynamics introduced the humanoid robot Atlas for industrial use.
Boston Dynamics has unveiled a new version of the humanoid robot Atlas, which goes beyond demonstration stunts and is ready for real-world industrial use. Atlas can lift up to 50 kilograms and carry up to 30 kilograms, features 56 degrees of freedom, fully electric actuation, and swappable batteries, enabling it to operate for extended periods without interruption.
The robot is equipped with advanced sensors for spatial orientation and can adapt to various working conditions. It is capable of jumping, running, overcoming obstacles, and performing complex manipulations, mimicking human movements with high precision.
Atlas is already part of partnership projects with Hyundai and Google DeepMind. Hyundai plans to deploy the robot in its auto plants, starting with parts preparation and sorting, and gradually moving on to more complex assembly tasks. The partnership with Google DeepMind will enable the integration of modern AI algorithms into Atlas for learning new tasks and adapting in real time.
According to experts, launching Atlas into industry is an important step in transitioning humanoid robots from laboratories to real life, where they will be able to assist in manufacturing, logistics, and other fields.
First serial models are already being produced and will soon be deployed at enterprises.
