Bethesda officially confirmed Fallout 5 and will bring back Fallout 3 with New Vegas
Bethesda Game Studios has released a lengthy message to players, outlining its plans for the development of its key franchises. The studio confirmed that Fallout 5 is in the pre-production phase and also announced the development of remasters for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
The primary focus for Bethesda remains the development of The Elder Scrolls VI. According to the studio, most of the team is already working on the new installment of the series, which is being built using the Creation Engine 3. Fallout 5 will also be developed on this same technology in the future.
The company also shared updates on other projects. Starfield, whose player base has exceeded 17 million, will continue to receive new story content, gameplay improvements, and updates. In 2027, new content focused on the Starborn will be released for the game.
A major expansion titled Raven Rock is in preparation for Fallout 76 — a prequel to Fallout 3. Meanwhile, Fallout 4 has sold over 35 million copies in the ten years since its release. Additionally, the studio is working on new seasons for Fallout Shelter and, in collaboration with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films, is developing a television project based on the mobile game.
Another announcement confirmed the collaboration with Obsidian Entertainment on a new project set in the Fallout universe.
Creators of user-generated content for Skyrim, Starfield, and Fallout 4 have already earned over $10 million through the Creations program. The studio also stated that it will continue to invest in tools for modders and the expansion of its game worlds.
