Anthropic launched Claude in Chrome — an AI assistant with browser control
Anthropic has launched the beta version of the Claude extension for the Google Chrome browser. The Claude in Chrome feature is available to users of the Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise paid plans.
The extension allows Claude to operate directly in the browser's sidebar, view web page content, and interact with sites upon user request. The assistant can read text, follow links, click buttons, fill out forms, and perform multi-step actions while browsing the internet.
As part of the update, Claude in Chrome has integrated with Claude Code, enabling developers to combine work in the terminal and the browser. The assistant can read console logs, network requests, and DOM state, simplifying debugging, testing, and interface verification.
The extension also now supports recording and reusing workflows, scheduling automated tasks, and executing scripts without constant confirmation of actions within a pre-agreed plan. Browser control remains a beta feature and requires granting extended permissions.
Claude in Chrome works only on the desktop version of Google Chrome and is not supported in other browsers or on mobile devices.
