Alphabet plans to raise $80 billion to develop artificial intelligence infrastructure
Alphabet announced plans to raise approximately $80 billion to fund a massive expansion of its artificial intelligence infrastructure. The funds will be raised through the issuance of stock and directed toward corporate purposes, including capital expenditures for the development of AI systems and global computing capabilities.
The company stated that demand for AI solutions from businesses and users exceeds the current capacity of its infrastructure. Consequently, Alphabet is increasing investments to boost computing power and support further growth in its artificial intelligence division.
Part of the deal includes the sale of $10 billion worth of shares to Berkshire Hathaway, which becomes one of the key investors in the program.
Alphabet stated that the capital-raising program aims to provide more balanced financing for investments while maintaining the company's stable balance sheet structure.
