AirAsia MOVE, Intebix, and Solana Foundation explore the possibility of implementing stablecoins in Kazakhstan
On May 22, 2026, in Almaty, AirAsia MOVE, Intebix, and the Solana Foundation signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for strategic cooperation. The parties will explore the possibility of integrating Evo, KZTE — a tenge-denominated stablecoin operating on the Solana blockchain — into the AirAsia MOVE platform in Kazakhstan.
The signing took place within the framework of Solana Summit Kazakhstan. Participants included Lim Ben Ji, Head of People and Partnerships at AirAsia MOVE; Talgat Dosanov, CEO of Intebix; and Anna Iran Zhang, Head of APAC Payments Development at the Solana Foundation.
What is planned
AirAsia MOVE is a leading Asian travel platform with more than 17 million monthly active users. The initiative combines its travel ecosystem with Intebix’s licensed digital asset infrastructure and Solana’s blockchain technology.
As part of the cooperation, the parties will jointly assess the technical architecture, settlement mechanisms, and regulatory compliance for a pilot launch of Evo within the AirAsia MOVE ecosystem in Kazakhstan. In the future, travelers will be able to book flights and hotels through AirAsia MOVE using stablecoins.
What participants say
Lim Ben Ji, Head of People and Partnerships at AirAsia MOVE, noted that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to reimagining the future of travel-commerce through innovation and new technologies. According to him, exploring the potential of the Evo stablecoin will strengthen the platform’s position as one of the most progressive OTA platforms in the region. In the future, travelers from Kazakhstan will be able to seamlessly book flights and hotels through AirAsia MOVE using digital assets, including stablecoins.
Talgat Dosanov, CEO of Intebix, emphasized that digital assets must solve real-world problems to drive mass adoption. According to him, as part of the cooperation, the parties will explore how the Evo stablecoin can make payments for travelers faster, more convenient, and more accessible, while fully complying with Kazakhstan’s regulatory requirements. Together with partners, Intebix is creating practical application scenarios that move blockchain technology beyond speculative markets and integrate it into everyday life.
Anna Iran Zhang, Head of APAC Payments Development at the Solana Foundation, explained that Solana is designed for high-speed institutional applications with near-instant settlements and low fees. According to her, the project demonstrates the real impact of blockchain technology on transforming user interactions with digital assets through practical scenarios such as travel.
Regulatory framework
All parties will proceed to the official stage of assessing the technical, legal, and commercial feasibility of the project within the regulatory sandbox of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Evo stablecoin was launched by Intebix on the Solana blockchain in collaboration with Mastercard and Eurasian Bank in 2025. It became the first tenge-denominated stablecoin within the regulatory sandbox for digital assets of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This initiative is supported by AirAsia Next and aligns with Capital A’s mission to create smarter, faster, and more interconnected solutions within its ecosystem.
