According to hh.kz, in January 2026, the median offered salary for specialists in the "Programmer, Developer" field amounted to 441,597 tenge. For comparison, at the end of 2025, it was 359,198 tenge.

The median salary is the value in the middle of the list of offers. Half of employers offer less than this amount, and the other half offer more.

At the same time, the number of job vacancies for programmers decreased by 10.7% in 2025. Simultaneously, the number of resumes grew by 14.2%. This means that more people wanted to find work in this specialization, and competition for vacancies intensified.

Junior Developers

Beginner specialists usually expect a lower salary than developers with commercial experience.

According to the hh.kz study, in the first quarter of 2026, IT specialists with less than a year of experience indicated a median salary of 207,711 tenge per month in their resumes.

This represents the salary expectations of the applicants themselves, not the amounts that employers guarantee to offer to beginner programmers. The initial offer is influenced by knowledge of programming languages, practical skills, and experience working on real projects.

Middle Developers

For specialists with one to three years of experience, median salary expectations in the first quarter of 2026 were 300,191 tenge per month. For those who had worked in IT for three to six years, the figure reached 398,377 tenge.

These data include various IT specializations, not just programmers. Nevertheless, they show how salary expectations change as experience accumulates.

At this level, it is important not only to know programming languages but also to be able to solve problems independently, work in a team, and participate in product development.

Senior Developers

IT specialists with more than six years of experience indicated a median salary of 508,442 tenge per month in their resumes in the first quarter of 2026.

This is an indicator across various IT professions, so it cannot be considered the exact salary of a Senior Developer. The income of an experienced programmer depends on specialization, project complexity, and level of responsibility. For example, a developer responsible for product architecture or the team's technical decisions may earn more than a specialist with similar tenure but narrower responsibilities.

Where are there more IT vacancies in Kazakhstan

The majority of IT vacancies are in Almaty and Astana. At the end of 2025, Almaty accounted for 59.7% of published IT vacancies on hh.kz, and Astana accounted for 28.1%.

However, salary indicators across the entire labor market differ from salaries specifically in IT.

In the second quarter of 2026, the median offered salary in Astana was 342,320 tenge, and in Almaty it was 342,139 tenge. In Shymkent, it reached 300,855 tenge, and in Karaganda it was 293,983 tenge.
