10 apps that Azerbaijanis use every day
Based on AppFollow's rating data, we analyzed which apps occupy the top spots in Azerbaijan and what attracts users to them.
mygov
The official application of Azerbaijan's unified state digital platform, developed by the Agency for Innovations and Digital Development. Mygov consolidates access to government services and documents in one place, eliminating queues and paperwork. Through the app, users can request certificates, track application statuses, use services from the Ministry of Labor, Azərişıq, and the notary office, and parents receive notifications regarding consents related to their children.
SiMA — Rəqəmsal İmza
A next-generation digital signature developed by AzInTelecom, part of AZCON Holding. The app is built on cloud technologies and facial recognition and has been downloaded over 6.5 million times. An electronic signature can be obtained entirely online without visiting service centers, and SİMA is already integrated with hundreds of partners, ranging from tax and customs services to banks and housing rental services. It is the universality of the signature, accepted by dozens of state and private entities, that ensures the app's consistently high rankings.
WhatsApp Messenger
One of the country's leading messengers—many users run it alongside Telegram to communicate with relatives abroad and labor migrants, as well as for business correspondence with international partners. Simplicity, end-to-end encryption, and a familiar interface make WhatsApp a universal tool for both personal and professional communication.
TikTok
Short vertical videos remain one of the primary content consumption formats in the country—TikTok is used not only for entertainment but also for promoting local businesses, music, and blogging. The algorithmic feed and simple editing tools keep users in the app for extended periods, which explains its presence in the top rankings for both free and grossing apps.
ChatGPT
The OpenAI app consistently ranks among the most downloaded in Azerbaijan—it is used for studying, working with texts, translations, and everyday tasks. The growing popularity of ChatGPT in the country reflects a broader trend: neural networks are becoming as familiar a part of smartphones as messengers and social networks.
Birbank
Kapital Bank's mobile banking app and one of the country's most popular banking applications, used by over three million people. Birbank covers almost the entire cycle of banking operations: issuing a digital card without visiting a branch, commission-free transfers, cashback of up to 30%, online queues at branches, loans and installments, as well as investment and business products under the separate sub-brands Birbank Invest and Birbank Biznes.
Temu
The international marketplace Temu continues to grow its audience in Azerbaijan through low prices, aggressive discounts, and gamified shopping—bonuses, lucky wheels, and promo codes for invited friends. A wide assortment of goods from China at prices lower than those of local competitors explains the app's sharp rise in the rankings recently.
Instagram
The social network remains the primary platform for bloggers, small businesses, and e-commerce in the country: stories and reels are used for sales just as much as for personal content. For many local brands, Instagram is effectively the main storefront.
GPS Tracker: Find My Family
An app for tracking the real-time location of loved ones—parents, children, and other family members. Users employ it to monitor children's safety on their way to school, track the location of elderly relatives, and coordinate meetings with family without unnecessary calls.
Bolt: Gediş sifariş edin
Bolt Technology's ride-hailing service is one of the main ride-booking services in Baku and other cities in the country. The app offers various ride categories, contactless payment by card or Apple Pay/Google Pay, as well as car-sharing and electric scooter rentals via Bolt Drive.
