Narikbi Maksut on how AI is transforming the work of developers
We attended the Digital Qazaqstan forum — one of the country's largest IT events, where we discussed how artificial intelligence is impacting the industry. One of the key insights was the transformation of the developer's role, as explained by Narikbi Maksut, a developer at Booking.

Code automation is advancing rapidly today. What once seemed unattainable is becoming the norm: limitations are disappearing, and the capabilities of tools are expanding. Where there used to be conditional limits, they have now been largely removed, directly impacting the development process.
The productivity of a single developer has already increased several times over. Along with this, the volume of code being created is also growing. More and more tools are emerging that accelerate work and make development more efficient.
Some professions may eventually disappear or transform. However, this is less about the complete replacement of specialists and more about a change in the very nature of their work.
There is currently a shortage of high-quality code—many are writing with the help of AI, which complicates the development process. This is especially true for junior specialists. They will need to adapt to new conditions and learn to think differently. New directions and roles related to the use of AI are already emerging.
At the same time, foundational knowledge remains key. Tools come and go, changing and being supplemented, but fundamental training allows a specialist to remain in demand regardless of technological changes.
AI is less about replacing programmers and more about transforming their profession, setting new requirements and opening up new opportunities.
