Which apps do Uzbeks use every day — a breakdown of Google Play
Based on AppFollow's ranking data, we analyzed which apps top the charts in Uzbekistan and what attracts users to them.
Telegram
Messenger remains the primary communication channel in Uzbekistan—for personal messaging, as well as for news channels, business chats, and government entities that maintain official channels through it. Telegram's sustained leadership in the country is explained not only by its functionality but also by the fact that users have grown accustomed over the years to receiving news and communicating here.
Instagram
The social network remains the main platform for bloggers, small businesses, and e-commerce in the country: stories and reels are used for sales just as much as for personal content. For many local brands, Instagram is effectively the primary showcase.
WB Taxi
WB Taxi is a taxi ordering service from WB FZE, launched by Wildberries & Russ in Tashkent. After several months of operation in a closed format, the service opened to all users and offers "Standard," "Comfort," and "Comfort Plus" tariffs, as well as the "Multi" feature, which simultaneously searches for a car across multiple tariffs. The app features a loyalty program: "watermelon" bonuses can be used to pay up to 99% of the trip cost.
ChatGPT
The OpenAI app consistently ranks among the most downloaded in the country—Uzbeks use it for studying, working with texts, and everyday tasks. According to local download rankings, in certain months, ChatGPT takes the top spot among all apps in Uzbekistan.
Uzum Market: Internet do'kon
Uzum Market is the country's largest and fastest-growing marketplace, launched in 2022. The app allows you to order clothing, footwear, electronics, home goods, beauty and health products, as well as food items. Among its advantages are low prices, constant promotions, nationwide delivery from one day, and convenient pickup points where you can inspect and try on items before purchasing.
MyGov: Davlat xizmatlari
The official app of Uzbekistan's unified portal of interactive government services by UZINFOCOM. Through MyGov, more than 370 services are available in over 20 areas—family, education, social protection, sports, transport—and a 10% discount applies to paid services. In the app, you can register, undergo identification via FaceID, submit applications and pay for them without leaving home, and also verify the authenticity of received documents using the MyScan feature.
WhatsApp Messenger
The second most popular messenger in the country—many users keep it alongside Telegram for communicating with relatives abroad and labor migrants, as well as for business correspondence with international partners.
CapCut: Photo & Video Editor
The editor from ByteDance remains one of the main tools for creating content for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts—simple editing, ready-made templates, and effects make it convenient even for users without video editing experience.
JanaTube: видео и аудио плеер
JanaTube is a universal video and audio player from Janatube Team, combining online content, a local media library, and a pop-up window feature for watching videos in parallel with other apps. A distinctive feature of the app is the built-in digital tasbih for counting dhikr, making it a niche product for the Muslim audience in the region. Eight playback speeds and quality selection from 360p to 1080p are also available.
IPTV Player — Smart Live TV
An app for watching TV channels via IPTV playlists—a popular format among users who are abandoning traditional cable TV in favor of online broadcasts and want to watch live channels directly on their smartphones or via a set-top box.
