Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that AI creates jobs rather than leading to mass unemployment.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang believes that American workers should not fear artificial intelligence. According to him, AI is not a harbinger of mass unemployment, but an industrial driver that creates new jobs. He made these remarks in an interview with MSNBC journalist Becky Quick at the Milken Institute event.
Anxiety Surrounding AI and the Labor Market
During the conversation, one of the key topics was the growing concern about the impact of AI on the economy. Becky Quick noted that technological development is occurring too rapidly and could lead to more significant changes in the labor market and increased inequality.
In response, Huang emphasized that "AI creates jobs" and called the technology one of the best opportunities for the reindustrialization of the United States. According to him, the AI industry is already forming a new type of infrastructure—factories producing equipment for AI systems—and these require a large number of workers.
Automation and Fears
Huang also pointed out that automating individual tasks does not mean the disappearance of professions. In his view, many people mistakenly equate tasks with work as a whole: even if AI takes over part of the functions, the broader role of the employee within the organization remains.
He criticized claims that AI could dominate humanity or destroy entire economic sectors. According to him, such scenarios only scare people and may lead them to refuse to use the technology.
At the same time, some of the "alarmist" rhetoric, as he noted, comes from the AI industry itself—critics argue that such claims are often used as a marketing tool.
Meanwhile, the long-term impact of AI on the economy remains an open question. According to estimates by various financial and academic organizations, up to 15% of jobs in the United States could be automated in the coming years.
