What worked: 300,000+ views on content from the Huawei ICT Competition finals
In June 2026, the editorial team of The Tech, at the invitation of Huawei Uzbekistan, traveled to Shenzhen — the technological capital of China and one of the world's leading IT hubs. Our mission was to cover the global finals of the Huawei ICT Competition 2026 — one of the largest international student competitions in the field of information and communication technologies. As a result of the trip, more than 10 publications were released across various platforms, with a total reach exceeding 300,000 views.
What is the Huawei ICT Competition
The Huawei ICT Competition is an annual international contest that brings together thousands of students from around the world. Participants compete in tracks such as Network, Cloud, and Innovation. To reach the global final, contestants must pass through national and regional selection stages. The competition gives students access to Huawei certifications, direct interaction with company engineers, and an international professional community.
In 2026, the final took place in Shenzhen, where Huawei’s headquarters are located. Students from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan represented Central Asia — and The Tech editorial team was there with them.
Shenzhen and the Huawei Campus
Shenzhen is not just the venue for the final. It is a city that has transformed over a few decades from a small settlement into one of the world’s largest technology hubs. It is here that companies have emerged which today define the global IT agenda: Huawei, Lenovo, Tencent, DJI, and many others.
The Huawei campus in Shenzhen left a particularly strong impression on participants. This is a large-scale infrastructure with its own logistics, architecture, and internal ecosystem, resembling a separate city more than a corporate office. The campus tour became one of the most popular pieces of content from the trip, garnering over 103,000 views on Instagram Reels.
How we worked on-site
The editorial team worked on-site in real-time: filming the Huawei campus from the inside, interviewing finalists from Central Asia, showing the behind-the-scenes of the competition, and tracking the results as they were announced. Content was published simultaneously across all platforms — from short Reels to full-length articles on the website.
As a result of the trip, a comprehensive information campaign was launched, targeting both mass and professional audiences. The content included short video formats and social media posts, a video report from the event, materials for the professional community, and a series of publications on the-tech.kz dedicated to the competition results and stories of participants from the region.
Results: over 10 publications and 300,000+ views
The total reach of all materials about the trip exceeded 300,000 views. Among the most popular publications were the Huawei campus overview, a video report from the Huawei ICT Competition final, and a series of posts on Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and the The Tech website.
