AI Digest: Gemini Omni, ChatGPT for Finance, and a New Anthropic Deal
Over the past two weeks, several major events have taken place in the world of artificial intelligence — from new Google models to ChatGPT's entry into the banking sector. Let's look at the most important ones.
Gemini 3.5 Flash
Gemini 3.5 Flash is available through Google’s Antigravity agent platform, the Gemini API in Google AI Studio, and Android Studio. The model outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro in complex programming tasks and agent operations: Terminal-Bench 2.1 — 76.2%, GDPval-AA — 1656 Elo, MCP Atlas — 83.6%. In the Artificial Analysis index, the model landed in the upper-right quadrant — high intelligence with exceptional speed.
Its primary use case is long-term agent tasks. Developing new applications, maintaining codebases, and preparing financial documents. What used to take developers days and auditors weeks, 3.5 Flash completes in a fraction of that time and for less than half the cost of other flagship models.
Gemini Omni
Gemini Omni is a new model that generates any content from any input format. At launch, it supports video generation, and in the future, the model will be able to work with any type of input and output data.
All videos created via Omni contain an invisible digital watermark, SynthID.
Working with references is one of the model’s key features. Omni accepts any reference — image, text, video, or audio — and transforms it into a single, coherent result. At launch, only voice is supported from audio references; support for other audio formats will be added later.
Anthropic Acquired Stainless — The Startup Used by OpenAI, Google, and Cloudflare
On May 18, 2026, Anthropic announced the acquisition of Stainless, a startup that automates the creation and maintenance of SDKs. Stainless was founded in 2022 by former Stripe engineer Alex Rattray and backed by Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
Stainless’ tools were used by OpenAI, Google, Replicate, Runway, and Cloudflare — all companies building AI agents with integrations to external services. Stainless’ SDK generator allowed for rapid creation and updates of software interfaces — exactly what is needed when scaling agent deployments.
ChatGPT Launches Personal Finance Tool — Bank Accounts Can Be Connected
OpenAI has launched a preview of a new personal finance management tool within ChatGPT, powered by the GPT-5.5 Thinking model.
Account connections are handled via Plaid, a service already used in Venmo, Robinhood, and other fintech apps. It supports over 12,000 financial institutions, including Chase, Fidelity, Schwab, American Express, and Capital One.
After connecting accounts, users see a dashboard showing expenses, subscriptions, portfolios, and upcoming payments. The feature operates in read-only mode — ChatGPT cannot see full account numbers and cannot execute transactions.
Amazon Launches Alexa for Shopping — New AI Assistant Replaces Rufus
Amazon announced the launch of Alexa for Shopping, a personal AI shopping assistant that replaces Rufus. The assistant combines the capabilities of Rufus and Alexa+ into a single interface and is built directly into Amazon’s search bar.
The assistant retains purchase history, viewing history, and conversation history, using them to provide personalized recommendations. Through the “Buy for Me” feature, it can also make purchases outside of Amazon.
