AI Digest: Claude Fable 5, SpaceX IPO, and the First Store with a Robot Salesperson
Over the past two weeks, several major events have taken place in the tech world — from a new model by Anthropic to a robotic store in Hong Kong. Let's look at the most important ones.
Anthropic Released Claude Fable 5 — The Most Powerful Model for Complex Tasks
Anthropic has introduced Claude Fable 5, a fifth-generation model designed to solve the most complex tasks in programming and knowledge work. According to the company, Fable 5 can handle multi-day, complex, and asynchronous tasks that previous models struggled with.
In agent mode, the model can work in conjunction with Claude Code over several days: planning tasks in stages, delegating subtasks, and monitoring results. The model is available via the Claude API, as well as through Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry. The price is $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, with a 90% discount on cached tokens.
Sales of SpaceX Shares Begin at $135
SpaceX has confirmed raising $75 billion from selling shares to underwriters. Elon Musk's company placed 555.6 million shares at $135 each, officially making the IPO the largest in history. Saudi Aramco raised $24.9 billion in 2019, and this record has been broken by a wide margin. At this valuation, Musk could become the world's first trillionaire.
The company will trade under the ticker SPCX on the Nasdaq exchange. If the oversubscription meets expectations, underwriters will be able to issue an additional 83.3 million shares — another $11 billion at the opening price.
OpenAI Offers Developers Free Tokens in Exchange for Access to Their Data
OpenAI has updated its API terms: the company is offering developers free daily tokens in exchange for permission to use their queries and responses to train models. Developers at tiers three through five receive up to 1 million free tokens per day for powerful models — including GPT-5, GPT-4o, o1, and o3 — and up to 10 million tokens per day for lighter models.
Users can disable data sharing at any time. Only the organization owner can manage these settings. Accounts with Zero Data Retention enabled cannot participate in the program.
Xiaomi Unveils Free AI Agent for Developers, MiMo Code
Xiaomi has released MiMo Code, an open-source terminal AI agent for programmers under the MIT license. The tool is built on the OpenCode project and is designed to automate long tasks — spanning tens or hundreds of steps. The agent supports multi-session memory: progress is saved between sessions and is not lost upon restart.
According to the company, in tests involving 576 developers, MiMo Code outperformed Claude Code on tasks exceeding 200 steps, achieving a win rate of over 65%. Upon first launch, users get access to the MiMo-V2.5 model with a one-million-token context window — no registration or API key required.
ChatGPT Reaches One Billion Users Worldwide
OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT has reached the milestone of 1 billion monthly active users. According to analytics firm Sensor Tower, the app set an absolute speed record — no other service has reached this figure so quickly. ChatGPT hit this mark in May, approximately three years after its launch, outpacing the growth rates of Google Maps, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
Against this backdrop, competition is intensifying. As of the second quarter of 2026, Claude has 56 million monthly active users, with the service's audience growing by approximately 640% year-over-year — compared to 62% for ChatGPT.
NASA Unveils Lunar Rover Pegasus
NASA has unveiled Pegasus, one of two rovers that will be deployed on the lunar surface as part of preparations to establish a permanent settlement in the south polar region. The rover, developed by Lunar Outpost, can operate in three modes: autonomously, under astronaut control, or via commands from Earth.
Lunar Outpost received $220 million to create Pegasus. According to the company, the rover is capable of operating for at least a year and covering a distance 100 times greater than that traveled by the Apollo program's lunar rovers. NASA requires a fully flight-ready Pegasus to be delivered by November 2027.
Hong Kong to Launch First Robotic 24/7 Store
A 24/7 store will open on the Hung Hom waterfront in Hong Kong, where customers will be served by a humanoid robot named Xiao Gai, based on the G1 model produced by Chinese company Galbot. Standing 168 cm tall, the robot understands voice commands, recognizes customers and products, restocks shelves independently, assembles orders, and operates the cash register.
The Hung Hom waterfront was chosen deliberately — it is a popular tourist spot in the city, and Galbot expects the presence of a robot salesperson to increase store foot traffic by 40%. The Hong Kong Investment Corporation (HKIC) intends to scale the format and open similar stores in 10 other major cities worldwide.
